Dress update!

I love the Sal Army. I can find so many notions on the cheap in the crazy bins that line the walls. I usually spend 20 minutes digging around until I find the something I can use.

A few weeks ago, I found some tiny grommets in many different colors in a skinny old Alka Seltzer jar.

So, I came up with an easy way to update a black shirt dress...update the collar.

shirt dress bought at goodwill... :)

I used a tool I found at SA used to apply small grommets. First you poke a hole in your garment with the grommet tool then insert the grommet. Brand new dress!
Beautiful!

C.S. Table

The two side tables from my sister!

No one will look at the bottom right?

We reattached the legs and put foam board in the sides wherever the wood wasn't flush to one side.
The white strip allows for the rope to warp around that side without dipping down.

I love it with the new rug we bought....$11 at Salvation army. I love that place!

So I finally finished the coffee table with TONS of help from my boyfriend and his neighbor (I just "rope" everyone into my projects, I guess).

I researched and did some measurements for the height of the ottoman. I decided it would be best to have the height at 14 inches. I also cut a piece of foam to make a cushion top, but we can get to that later.

I wanted the rope to be 1/4 inch think with a nice beige color to match the bottom half of the couch. I found some at Meijer's for $5. We had to make many trips to the store because there's a ration on sisal 1/4 inch 100ft. rope...At least that's how it seemed.

We wrapped and wrapped and wrapped and wrapped...etc. Until we used nearly 500 ft of rope.

Burned ourselves many times with the hot glue gun.

And we finally finished.

So, compared to the one from C.S. Post
I think I like it a bit better, but I'm bias.

Let's tally up the total...
500 ft of rope $5 each : $25 (not counting the mperks coupon I got for $5 off a purchase of $5 or more)
Hot glue 2.99 each : $9
Tables: Free

Total: $34

Compared to the C.S. Post table of $1,095

NICE...

So this is my very first post! I've been very busy creating things lately. My new venture came when I was at Saugatuck State Park on Monday. I was skimming through the pages of one of my favorite magazines Real Simple and I found a table I would love to create!

This particular table is quite pricey...way out of my non-budget (which is zero). So, toady I'm going to attempt to finish this table with rope and hot glue. Hopefully, I will be able to make this table into an ottoman for my boyfriend's new couch.

We will see how these two things go together. Heh heh!
Wish me luck!
